HOW DO I RESTORE A 1970 Recurve Bow?

I HAVE A BEAR 1970 RECURVE KODIAC SPECIAL, WITH ORIGINAL TURQUOISE PAINT. MY FRIEND GAVE IT TO ME AND IT HAD A CRACK DOWN THE CENTER OF THE BOW TO THE KNOCK. HE USED A VIBRATING SANDER TO TRY AND GET IT OUT. THE CRACK IS GONE AND SMOOTHED OUT BUT SOME OF THE FIBERGLASS PAINT IS IS MISSING NEAR THE EDGES. I WAS WONDERING IF I NEEDED TO REPAINT IT OR ANYTHING BEFORE I USE IT, IF SO WHAT DO I USE AND WARE DO I GET IT,,,

It depends. If the crack diddent go do deep you can shave the bow down and make a lighter weight bow. You have to do the WHOLE THING. Because if you just shave out the area the had the crack that part of the bow will be thinner and very likely to break. But I wouldn't do anything at all to it, older recurve bows. Such as older Fred Bear bows are worth alot of money, in the thousands if they are in decent condition. The value may have already been messed up by your friend shaving it down, leave it alone. you may be able to find someone who wants to buy it. Like me, if its decent.
