Recurve Long

what kind of crossbow is better? a recurve or compound?

like which one is generally more accurate, reliable and will last a long time

This is just my opinion. The one thing that scares me about the recurve type crossbows is the high poundage they have to have to achieve any speed in comparison to the compound recurves.And all that high poundage is held without any let off at all.

While a compound will only have a holding weight of perhaps less then one third of it's actual draw weight a recurve compound can have as high as a 225 lb draw weight without any let off at all. This fact scares me. How can it hold up under that stress over a period of time? And the arrows have to be so much stronger then the ones a compound crossbow requires they would have to made much heavier, therefore negating a by a good bit the high poundage of a recurve compound.

In other words I just personally do not like the idea of a recurve compound.
