When it comes to buying a longbow, what type of arrows do i need?

All the specific little details I need when it comes to buying a longbow arrows. I plan on getting a #45 bow w/ a 28 inch drawback.

There really isn't enough room here to get into all the little details.... It depends on a variety of factors. What will you be using the bow for -- target archery, or Hunting? Also, what type of longbow -- one with an "arrow shelf", or one without?

Bows without an "arrow shelf" require arrows that are of the proper amount of "flex" (called "spine") for that particular bow's draw weight (measured at YOUR Draw Length). If you already know your draw length, add/subtract 2.5 lbs of draw weight for each inch over/under the bow's rated draw length, i.e., "50# @ 28"; most bows are rated for a specific draw weight at a 28-Inch Draw (from what you have said, you are looking for a 45# @ 28" bow - which means your finished arrows should be spined as close to 45 pounds as possible, IF your draw length actually is 28 inches). The spine of the shaft is not the only thing you have to be aware of: The weight of the point, whether "target" or "broadhead", affects arrow spine; heavy points make the shaft "weaker", light points make the shaft "stronger".

IF your actual draw length is really 28-inches, your arrows should be at least 29-inches in length. This will help ensure that they are long enough to stay on the bow at full-draw (assuming you do not use an "over-draw system" on your bow - and I've never seen one on a longbow).

The arrow shafts can be made of wood, aluminum, fiberglass or carbon-fiber (even steel, but the arrows would be far too heavy...). Fletching is the same -- feathers, vanes (rubber, plastic, etc). You need to decide how "Traditional" you want to be in your pursuit of archery, as well as what type of archery you want to do. There is no one "best" arrow for all uses, but there are advantages and disadvantages to each material.
