Whats the best weight for a target bow?
I would like to get a hoyt recurve target bow, for going to 3d shoots and then competition, and a bow to shoot when Hunting preseason and hunting season is over. What weight limbs should I get. I will be getting a 25" riser and medium limbs.
Target bows are normally lower poundage then your Hunting Bow needs to be. But still, I would get it in the 40 or 50 lb version.
While a Compound Bow can be shot using draw weights up to 70 lbs or more, that is only because their mechanical advantage allows you to do so. If you can handle a 50 lb draw weight on a recurve, you will be doing good.
