Have quick Release Velcro shoes?

Destroyed children's ability to be able to tie laces up if they ever needed too? I read a report saying 80% of 5-10 year olds have difficulty when asked to tie their laces up!

Is this a sign of modern culture destroying the simple things in life?
London Lady - You are correct, Velcro shoes may be fine for school, but when they leave and decide that laces are better..... well.. are they going to ask mummy to tie them?

Its not the shoes that have destroyed the kids ability to tie their laces its their parents fault. The problem does start in school, one teacher with 38 small children can't help them all tie their laces so the "velcro culture" sets in for ease. However there is no reason the averagely intelligent 4 year old can't learn to tie shoe laces, with patience and practice. Most of them can play their Nintendos no problem.

However many parents are to blame ultimately because they rarely take time to "teach" their children the basics in life nowadays; how to tie a shoe lace, good manners, patience etc.

Also they don't teach their kids to put litter in the bin. I told a small child off the other day she got out of the car and dropped an empty pop bottle over a wall at the beach. I couldn't help myself , I said "you should put that in the bin not on the floor" but her mother looked mean so I didn't push the issue and walked away.
