How do I find out the poundage of my Bow?

Ive been asked about the poundage of my Bow (bow and arrow) but I cant remember, anyone know of say a formula/test to work it out. thanks in advance

You can either rely on the marking on the bow, look for it around the bottom limb area near the riser. This is usually marked as "40# @ 28"" or something like that. Or to know for sure you'll need a scale. There are 2 weight measurements, there's the AMO weight, measured to 28" of draw and then there's the actual holding weight, measured to your Draw Length.

If someone is asking you then most likely you'll need the AMO weight, as the weight you're holding will be different than someone else if the two of you have different draw length. This is assuming you have a re-curve/longbow. For compound then it's simply about measuring the peak weight.

Either way, you'll need a good scale. Some people use fish scale.
