archery question, what is wrong with my shooting technique?

i was taught to shoot open handed feet shoulder width apart, but when i was shooting today i would put the 40 yard pin on the antelope's vitals but when I shot it would go lower than the where i was aiming, i think it may have something to do with my follow through, when i shot the bow tilts back into my and, and i think it may have something to do with tipping the back of the arrow up slightly making it go lower than intended my pin isn't off because when i shoot closed handed i shoot right on, o what am i doing wrong? it isn't off by much and when i hold the grip tighter but still open handed it doesn't tilt and the arrow goes where it is supposed to. sorry if my question is sort of rambling
I've been doing ok, but i just bought some new very light carbon arrows and they take a different direction of flight at the smallest movement. my other arrows were somewhat thicker, and flew somewhat straighter. I'll work on it. thanks dumdum

A few years back the open hand method was popular on the tournament circuit. But after almost all the major tournaments started being won by archers that no longer used the open hand method of shooting you will not see anyone using it anymore. I would not use it anymore if I were you. Go with the grip that is producing the best most consistent results for you. Then set your sight pins accordingly if you need to. What is happening with your open hand method of shooting is creating torque causing your arrows to fly in a different place then if it were not torqued. Use just enough grip on the handle . Too much will create torque and too little will create torque. And grip it the same way every shot. You need consistency in your form to produce consistent results. Just keep practicing. You sound as if you are doing good. Just work on your form and try to be consistent.
