Chicago neighborhoods... Please Help?

Im looking at hotels for my trip to Chicago at the end of this month. I never been there before. Im going there mostly just to go to Cubs games but also do some sight seeing. I found a hotel near this intersection (N Clark St & N Ridge Ave
Chicago, IL 60660, US ) . How is the neighborhood there?? Its really near Rosehill cemetary... Is it safe there? Local to public transportation??? Please help... It will be me and my wife on our anniversary...

I'm going to assume you're talking about the Heart o' Chicago motel. It's located in Edgewater, not Rogers Park, as any REAL Chicagoan should know. It's kind of a funky motel, old school. I've had friends stay there before and they kinda liked it. it looks relatively well kept from the outside (I live not too far from there) It's not in a really bad area. In fact, it's kinda quiet everytime I've been by. The cemetery is west of the motel, not really close by. You'd have to walk a bit to get there. But the motel is not too far from the Andersonville area. In fact, to get to Wrigley Field, you'd walk down the street from the motel and catch the 22 Clark Street Bus and ride south, going right through the Andersonvlle neighborhood. It's kind of an upwardly mobile neighborhood with a bunch of upscale shops and restaurants and a few good bars. There is a large gay population there, but the neighborhood still has a lot of shops from its days as a big Swedish community. If you travel east from the motel you'd end up at the lake and beach on Bryn Mawr. It's a great place to hang out on the summer.

Like I said, it's not too dangerous around there during the day or night. You can walk down the street there and not have a problem. There's a bar called the Edgewater not too far away on Ashland and Bryn Mawr that has good food and sometimes live music and a pretty decent beer selection. And there's a big new Target not too far away west of the motel. Don't know why Im mentioning that, but there you have it.

Even if you're not staying in the Heart O Chicago motel, it's still a decent neighborhood with brand new townhomes just down the street, etc. And you can get to Wrigley Field on one bus for $2 a ride, going through a few neighborhoods like a mini sightseeing trip. Don't listen to people who say it's dangerous or that it's near Rogers Park because they obviously don't know what they're talking about.
