99 accord driver side door will not open?

a couple of days ago, i went to get out of my car and the door did not open. I checked to make sure that i did not hit the lock switch while driving, but it was unlocked. I do not want to take my car to a honda dealership because i want to keep my limbs and i am pretty mechanically inclined to be able to do this myself. I can get part of the panel pulled back to peak down and see that the rod is connected and moves when i pull the inside handle. Can I use something like a coat hanger or something similar to get down inside and open the latch or will i have to take the whole panel off...and can this be done without damaging it?

ok so its not locked . will it open from inside . regardless you will have to remove the panel . there is a plastic piece linking the rods together . so you will have to fassion one or buy a new one . as for going through the window to open it that is only to unlck the door .

I just got to thinking you might not know how to get the panal off . LOL .
you will need a paint scrubber . you know the flat metal spatula . run it inbetween the panal and the door body . finding the studs that hold the panal to the door . this stud is nothing more than a plastic stud with ribs on it . and if you pull to hard the wrong way you will rip it out of the panal . so expect to mess up a few . . there is screws holding on the handle and the plate that covers the nob . remove those . and some times there is one in the jam just at the top . look for more just to be safe . thn after finding the studs you want to mark that spot with chalk . just so you will know exactly where to hit when putting it back on . start with the jam side . this being the henged side . pull firmly with the spatula .
pop them out one by one and dont pull on the panal to hard or you will just make it harder . then there is plastic cover over the cut outs of the door . make sure you have some clear tape to fix it back otherwise you will have dust coming into your car . pluss this keeps out the cold . or in depending on the waether . i am not sure about the car . so you will either have to roll the window all the way up or all the way down . you will know once you get in there .
