How long until aquatic plants turn greener after CO2 supplement?

I have a heavily planted 10 gal tank, I've noticed that my plants have lost their intense "greenishness" and am wondering how long after using Flourish Excel (organic carbon) will they return to their healthy green color? Should I use CO2 fizz tabs as well?

I don't have a CO2 injector, my tank is too small but I've always used liquid fertilizer and only recently, Seachem's Flourish Excel

Any answers or tips will be appreciated
No, unfortunately no substrate only gravel

The CO2 is not likely causing the chlorosis, but rather it is a lack of important trace elements like magnesium, potassium, etc. Here is a great chart on elements and what impacts they have on plants: http://www.seachem.com/support/FlourishConstituents_Deficency.pdf

You'd be better off using Flourish (trace element supplement) than Flourish Excel (CO2 supplement) in this case, or using both!

Substrate depends on the plants you have. Many plants grow fine in gravel with proper fertilizers/supplements added. There are even floating plants that don't really care about substrate at all (they float).
