have you been to...?

port orford oregon? we are leaving sunday and i would like to know if there is any cool attractions close by or some cool towns nearby too. we live in northern Ca, and the 299 is closed so i think the only way to get there is I-5 right? thanks in advance

I have been through Port Orford, been right up the 101.
It is extremely scenic along Oregon's coastline.

Things to do there are mostly related to the ocean and outdoors.
Swimming, surfing, wind-surfing, fishing, hiking, camping.
Visit the Cape Blanco Lighthouse, it's the oldest continually operating lighthouse on the coast of Oregon. 105 years old and in great condition.
The old Coast Guard Lifeboat Station is on Coast Guard Hill and offers a rare glimpse into the lives of the men stationed there and the rescues they made.

Prehistoic Gardens at Arizona Beach, is just 15 minutes south of Port Orford on Highway 101.

West Coast Game Park is 20 minutes north of Port Orford on Highway 101.

Directions:
I-5 north to Grants Pass then exit 61 west toward Merlin.
This way takes you over Klamath Mountains and through the Siskiyou National Forest. This road takes you to 101.
So beautiful!
