Twist Bowstrings

Bow String question?

I bought my bow around a year ago and it came with a bowstring that was already waxed. I haven't waxed it or anything since then, and I was wondering if I should go buy some wax and wax it. What exactly does the wax do to the string? And is there a certain number of times I should twist the string before stringing my bow? thanks

If you are talking about a Traditional recurve or longbow, twisting the string makes for a higher brace height. This can decrease noise and hand shock as well as arrow speed somewhat. String the bow to the manufacturers specifications, and work from there to find your personal preference. All bow strings should be waxed once a year to reduce fraying and repel moisture.
