what do you think should be the length of my longbow?

i am 5'6 and a half i have heard that a bow is suppose to be almost your full height what would you say the length of my bow should be? please only give an answer if you really know. also do longbows have a place to nock your arrows? like a slight indention or something to put the end of your arrow into?

There are a lot of factors that determine the length of your longbow. The first is, what are you going to be using it for? If you're looking for a Target Bow you could get one as long as you wish, If you're going to be Hunting out of a tree stand or in thick brush you'll probably want one as short as possible. There are a few thing so keep in mind: The longer the bow, the smoother it will generaly shoot, it will also be more forgiving on bad shots. Longer bows tend to shoot more quietly as well, definitley a plus when hunting, shorter bows often shoot faster (fps) because there is less limb mass. Shorter bow are also less awkward to handle, but have a little more hand shock than a longer bow will. What your bow is made of (self-bow, laminate, fiberglass, what species of wood used) will also give it limitations or advantages.
Really it all comes down to a good compromise. You need to look around for a good bowyer and let him know what kind bow you're looking for and what it will be used for. He/she should be able to guide you to the perfect fit for the weapon you are looking for. I generally like my longbows long, but I am 6'3" with long arms. You being 5'6" will allow you a shorter bow as you will have a shorter Draw Length which is another key factor. Look around online and find a bowyer willing to talk you through the process.
