Parabolic formula with max height and distance from points on x axis as variables?

I want a formula where you can have the max height (furthest up y) as a variable, along with some more. I want it to have (0, 0) as a point, and the distance from (0, 0) to the other point on the x axis to be a variable. Of course, I want x to be a variable, and the whole thing to return y ( y = ... ).
