AK-47 assault rifle vs Brown Bear?
If i started pumping 7.62x39mm AK-47 rounds into a brown bear, would it be effective?
What about a 12 gauge shotgun slug/00 buck?

I'm going out into the sticks and the ticks where they are omnipresent, and being able to fend them off should they take a liking to me would be a very good thing to have in my opinion.

That is an assumption, i'm asking for the dynamics of those rounds and their effective stopping power. sure, you can take a bear or other large animal with a .22 if you hit it in the eye, but that wouldn't be the best way to bring down said large animal in a short period of time when they are rushing at you.
Yes multiple AK rounds at less than 100 yards probably stop a bear.
Yes a 12 guage slug would definitely do some damage and stop a bear (in a vital area), but I wouldn't trust buck unless he was right up in my grill.
Yes 30-06 would be just the ticket.
