the right Recurve Bow for me?

im new to archery, ive only shot a Compound Bow before for a few hours. it was fun, but at the same time i thought to myself "with all the money you spend on the high tech gadgets and what not, why not just get a Hunting rifle?" so i wanted something more natural. i think recurve or Traditional is perfect for me. i was looking at the Martin Hatfield Takedown recurve. looks nice and a cool perk is my last name is hatfield lol. but i am looking for takedown / foldaway bows ONLY! something i can take apart/reassemble easily. collapsible would be a nice touch. i am not hunting anything excessively large, deer at the biggest. but most commonly bow fishing, and Small Game/fowl. any suggestions?

BQ:: anyone who owns/previously owned a martin hatfield takedown have any comments on it? good or crappy? thanks!

You are on the right bow.

Only time and experience will tell if there is a better choice for you.

The Martin is a fine bow should last a lifetime.

You are about to discover, its a lot harder to shoot traditional than compound.

There is a fair amount of "tuning" that goes on with any bow.
String, brace heights, arrow spines, tip weights, tip types and brands etc all of which effect how well you do in terms of accuracy.
Finger shooter ? Split finger ? 3 under ? Shooting a tab ?

Buy it where you can try it.

It should be dead quiet to shoot. That is no snap or string noise on release.
You may want to add silencers to the string and brush buttons to keep from getting hung up in bushes.

40lbs is enough to be an ethical Hunter of whitetails.
Up to about 35-40 yards is all you are going to shoot anyway.Likely less than that, more like 15-25 yards.
You don't want to wound an animal and have it run off and die later.

I suggest cedar arrows with feathers although aluminum with plastic vanes are common.
For hunting with a Traditional Bow, carbon fiber is a waste of money for little or no real advantage in speed.
Besides, its "common wisdom" (you know guys and their common wisdom) that if a carbon shatters inside the animal it ruins the meat as the fibers cannot be extracted. I have no personal experience with this,but that's what THEY say.
